Ramble On...
This is Rockhop, the now voice of Trip, with an update for anyone still interested.
I talked to Lenny yesterday for awhile on the phone, as I'm sure a few other people did, though in his words, I was the last one he spoke to, and he wanted me to pass on a few things to everyone he could not get ahold of, and those he did not want to bother a second time.
First off, and this is from my own personal opinion, Trip seems pretty happy. To tell you the truth, his audioblogs are giving me a different impression, as they might for you, but I can assure you, nobody who is reading this is having as good a time as he is. He's been camping for awhile at Kennedy Meadows, where he's had some very serendipitous luck, or trail magic, as we would say. Because of my non-punctual package sending (though not as non-punctual as some, it seems) he had to wait another day or two before starting, but you can rest assured that by the time you are reading this, he has set off to hike the Sierra Nevadas.
I'm not sure what he has told others, but I will just say what I know. The Sierras are very snow covered, very very snow covered. Lenny is not leaving with a group of travellers, as far as I know, though he will not march on to unsafe territory without company. The roads into the Sierras are also still closed, as of last known report, so he will probably have to walk the entire stretch, with no chance to leave the trail en route. I worry a bit, but am very confident in Lenny's ability to do what's best, keep himself alive and happy, and ulitmatley make it to the other side, whatever that means for him.
If you have any questions, or if I left something out, just comment and I can fill you in anymore. Everyone give a moment's time to smile for our adventurous traveller and the romantic life he is willing to live.
